Description of A Passion For Purpose: Building Cities for Our Children
Review We loved our time in Kansas City and the decision to come was in large part due to the vision laid out by Mayor James and his team. His leadership is manifested in modern Kansas City--a town filled with culture, great food, and revitalization. We experienced his passion first hand while in that beautiful city, and there is no one better to share their strength and leadership than Mayor James. --The Fab 5: Bobby Berk, Karamo Brown, Tan France, Antoni Porowski, Jonathan Van NessThe Sly James that I know is an honorable man. In fact, he has become one of my heroes. Sly James will serve Kansas City in whatever capacity he is in, whether as mayor, or as citizen. A pastor I knew once asked of his congregation not just to give, but to give from substance. Sly James gives from substance. Here is his story. --Yo-Yo Ma, Acclaimed cellist and composerPresident Harry Truman said that Progress occurs when courageous, skillful leaders seize the opportunity to change things for the better. Decades hence, Sly James powerfully delivered on that opportunity in Truman s hometown, and far beyond. Sly James is a change maker. Time and again he has demonstrated the courage to fight for progress to the game-changing benefit of the City and the country he loves. He is a rare mix of strategic energy, pure grit, authenticity, and boundless passion. Sly is the real deal; a great read lies ahead. --Roshann Parris, Crisis Communications executive; White House Lead International Advance/Presidents Clinton and Obama Read more About the Author Sly James Sylvester 'Sly' James was sworn in as the 56th Mayor of Kansas City, Missouri in 2011, and was re-elected for a second term in 2015.
